Put Your Photo on a Keychain

Before there were cellphones, keys were the item that everyone carried with them.  So there few better ways to take treasured photos with you than on a key chain. Here are a few of your options.

Make a Photo Key Chain Online

Nearly every online photo service that can make a photo print can also produce a photo key chain fairly inexpensively (VistaPrint has key chains starting at $2.50 or go for a leather-enclosed photo key chain from Snapfish for $20). You can order single or double-sided key chains with small photos (usually an inch by an inch) in rigid or flexible materials. It’s fast, simple and won’t break the bank.

If crafting and creativity are your strong suits, you can always make your own photo key chain. Caroline at Happy to Create has a step-by-step tutorial to make the photo key chain you see to your right (complete with a free template you can download to replicate the circular photos).  Or check out Donna Kato’s step-by-step tutorial here to create a polymer clay photo key chain.

If starting from scratch is a bit too daunting, you can purchase do-it-yourself kits that get you most of the way there.

Go Digital

Like its larger-sized cousin, the tiny key chain frame has been digitized. If you’d like to skip the print, you can tote around a 1.5-inch LCD display packed with dozens of photos. These digital photo frame key chains usually retail for under $50 and connect to your PC via a USB plug. The nice thing about these tiny digital frames is that they can store way more photos than any other print key chain could really hold. The downside: they’ll require occasional recharging.
